This my assembly (component placement) of an adjustable current-regulating laser driver that is only about 10mm by 18mm in size and small enough to fit entirely in an Aixiz module.

Assembly involves applying soldering paste to the PCB and carefully placing components followed by solder reflow and attaching of power leads and testing.

This laser uses a 20X open can diode inside a Garrity 9 LED Flashlight. The diode is powered off of 3AAA’s at 320ma off of the AMC7135 driver purchasd from DealExtreme. The collimator has four washers soldered around the base where the diode is pressed in to act as a heatsink.

It’s the same laser as in the first video,I just made myself an aluminum casing for it so it actually looks like a laser pointer.
around 75-100 mW I guess, 650 nm wavelength

This is my final set-up of the LPC-815 DVD burner laser diode from LG 20x DVD Burner drive. It’s set in an AixiZ housing with a AR coated glass focusing lens. The AixiZ housing, batteries and Power Supply Driver are then housed in a generic plastic project box. This diode is being driven at 386mA.
