The external drive will probably be more useful to you in the long run. Just don’t drop it.

Hello Daniella,
I was reading at the HP specs and it already comes with a god sizable Hard disk, so my suggestion is to buy an external for backup. 500 GB at that price is a good deal. Take care and enjoy your new laptop.

It’s entirely up to you.
Would you rather have 500GB on the laptop or 250GB on the laptop and another 500GB externally?
It all depends on what you want the space for and whether you need all your files to be portable.
The external drive would be a good idea for backup though.

Go with the external. With USB 2.0 its not to slow. and depending on what you want it for it might server your purposes even better. Because with the external you can have a back up if something were ever to befall your laptop.
I watch movies and such off my external all the time.

Definitely an external hard drive. For one you can install all your programs on the external and install them from that drive. So if anything ever went wrong with the laptop you don’t have to fish around for all the disks to reinstall them. Plus that saves room on your laptop for files and other things. And you can save documents and other things you don’t need every day.I recently got a 1 1/2 terabyte external for about $90.00 at Office Depot. Yes it was on special but I couldn’t pass up the deal. Another way we use ours is my wife pays bills online using Quicken on her laptop. Come tax time I have her do a back-up on the external HD then plug into my computer which also has Quicken on it and can do the taxes without tieing up her laptop for days and days. And if you have to do a restore all your saved information is safe tucked away in your external HD. Good Luck.
