NEC DVD Burner Review – A Great Deal
It used to be that DVD burners were an expensive peripheral to add to a computer. Whether a DVD burner was needed for business use or for home, personal, use, the DVD burner was an expensive addition to add to a computer. It might shock some of you who haven’t priced out DVD burners in quite sometime, but one can now purchase a DVD burner for as little as $29.99. The NEC DVD burner is one of the lowest priced DVD burners on the market, but apparently, quality is not being sacrificed for cost when it comes to this DVD burner.
What Can It Do?
A DVD burner, whether a NEC or not, allows you to burn your very own DVDs at home or at work. This can be done to burn multiple copies of your home digital videos or to copy a DVD to have your own copy or to give a copy to a friend. Though the latter activity is illegal, a lot of people seem to be using their DVD burners for just this purpose. Some people argued when DVD burners came out that their price should remain high so as to discourage such illegal activity, but manufacturers have lowered the prices anyway. It seems that it’s not the manufacturer’s responsibility, but the responsibility of lawmakers and law enforcers.
nec dvd burner can do anything that DVD burners do. It connects to your computer the same way as any other peripheral DVD burner and performs the same functions. For someone who’s into graphics hard-core, you should definitely look at the burning specifications of the NEC DVD burner before buying, because the specs might not be up to a specialist’s expectations. However, for the casual home user, the NEC DVD burner is certainly good enough for home use.
Pricing Info
As with many other things, prices vary widely depending on where you shop and whether it’s in person or online. A store might offer a slightly higher price, but no shipping costs will be adding on top of the price. An online site might offer a slightly lower price, but then add on shipping costs, not to mention that returning faulty items is more of a hassle for online purchases. A NEC DVD burner can be priced online and then purchased online or directly from a store. As with everything else, prices vary widely and should always be compared before purchasing.
How do I burn video files from YouTube to a blank dvd?
I know how to save video files from YouTube, ifilm, and other sites using the Video Downloader software extension with Firefox. But when I try to burn them to a blank dvd, my burner doesn’t recognize it. I think it’s because the files are saved as .flv files.
How do I burn them to a disc? Is there a way to save youtube video files as another extension like .mov or .wma? I want to burn music videos for my gf.
Here’s a link that shows you how to save video from youtube if you don’t know how to do it already.

Thanks, John
First (to convert .flv to .avi):
http://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifehack/convert-flash-video-flv-to-avi-avi-or-mpeg-mpg.html
Then (to convert .avi to DVD format):

So, convert the .flv file. Use Nero to turn all the converted files into a DVD and burn it.
Burn Errors DVD R’s or the Burner?
I’m always reading reviews on which blank DVD R’s are better to use then the other I see alot saying that they had more burn errors using Memorex. My question is "Is it really the DVD R that can cause a Burn error or the burner itself I would rather buy Memorex cause of the price but have no problem spending more if it cuts down on Burn errors????
1) Always burn at the slowest speed you can – any disk will burn better if it’s burned slower. (Don’t go crazy – 4X is slow enough for any disk that will work at all.)
2) Memorex markets disks, they don’t manufacture them. All the major players buy their disks from someone, usually they all buy from the same manufacturers, so as long as you buy a name brand disk, you should be getting good ones. (I’ve used Memorex – they’re no better or worse than any other brand – and I burn a few hundred disks a week.)
If you want high quality disks (they’re pretty expensive), you’ll have to stay away from the mass marketers and buy the disks that are sold as commercial grade. You can burn them faster – but other than that, they’re the same as DVDs you get for 20 cents each. (I’m currently going through a few stacks that were shrink-wrapped – no label. No coasters either – at 4X. The only problem is if you drop one it’s difficult to tell which side is which. They were about $12/100 in lots of 100.)
LG Electronics Super-Multi GSA-2166D. Is this dvd burner the best in the market?
It’s an external though. but check at pcworld http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/chart_test_report/0,chid,6179,prodid,26454,00.asp
they gave iut a rating over 80 which is very good.
Well I have never used an LG burner so I can’t speak from experience. That is a good rating.
I have a Sony & a Pioneer. The Sony is a piece of junk. The Pioneer has been a good workhorse.
Why inspite of changing the speeds to 1x or 2x the DVD writer writes at 6x?
1. Am using Nero Premium edition latest version; 2. On the last page just before burning starts I click 2x speed and remove the tick against determine maximum speed; 3. I am using SONY RW DW G-120A DVD Burner which is having very good reviews from industry; 4. What should i do since due to this probly my dvd’s are not burning appropriately as i ve already wasted 5 of the 10 new DVD’s of Sony having writing speed of 16x.
What brand of DVD are you using? The disc, not the drive.
You may need to try a different brand.
I have lightscribe on my Sony DVD/CD Burner & images wont burn..?
I tried tweaking, converting to grey scale, bw and altering contrast etc.. it use to work, now the output review of images before you burn, shows all black! No matter what I do, all images are pitch black.
I use Roxio Media 9
Any idea how to fix this?
It sounds like your light scribe burner is broken.
Did you recently get it? If so I would take it back, or find out if you can exchange it.
Also make sure you use the programs that come with the burner. Some programs will claim to be compatible but really aren’t.
DVD Burner software , Nero 7 ?
I just installed a DVDR/CDR drive in my PC (XP) . In almost all of the reviews , everyone said the Nero 7 Essentials CD that came with the drive is junk , and it is all trialware.
Can someone explain in laymens terms what I need to use the DVD/Lightscribe/CDR functions ?
Is there a good Free software that will allow me to use all functions of my Drive ? Like for music production and recording they have Audacity which is a Free open source program , which is very good.
Is there some similar software for DVDRW CDRW Drives?
If I am better off purchasing some software what would be a decent software for DVD+R , DVD+R DL , DVD+RW , DVD-R , DVD-R DL , DVD-RW , DVD-RAM , DVD-ROM , CD-R , CD-RW , CD-ROM , LIGHTSCRIBE.
Anything for like $20.00 up to $50.00 ?
Thanks
This is free :
I had exactly the same problem. I downloaded Nero, and it took hours to download, then didnt work.
So I used this:

When I downloaded it, there was also other options of applications you can download – I would recommend also loading the WavePad Sound Editor (Like audacity)!
Best Program for Burning xbox 360 Games
What is the best program for burning and making a copy of your favorite video games? I have tested many of game copying programs and only one has expected results. Software package called Game Copy Wizard.
Game Copy Wizard is one of the most known copy game software. The software is a distinct one, since it allows you to produce a quality back up or copy of your favorite game from any game console by using a DVD burner. The Wizard is not similar to other types of software because it offers you the chance to create a back up or a quality copy of your preferred movies, videos, series or music.
If you copy your games there is no matter what brand of console you use. The software is able to copy games from all kinds of game consoles on the market. Among them we can count Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Xbox, PS2, PS3, Gamecube or Dreamcast. With the help offered by the software you can make a quality back-up or copy of your preferred games, but also create your personal DVD’s with music, videos or movies. There are so many things that you can do with this software.
Another good thing to note about is that the software is able to burn copy-protected discs quite easily. The Game Wizard is definitely a must have software for any game lover. The only inconvenience is that the software does not update itself.
The whole copying process takes about 2-10 minutes. depends how powerful computer you have.

2006 Acura TL, The Acura/ELS DVD-Audio system – What the heck is DVD-Audio?
Ok, on another post about the Acura/ELS DVD-Audio system the answer referenced a review at:
http://www.elssurround.com/absolute_sound.aspregardless of the review of how good it is I still have a few questions. Where do you get a DVD-Audio version of a CD? Is it in music stores only? Can I burn in this format with a DVD burner? Do I need special software? I kinda asked this question before, but I am still unsure. I’m hoping someone out there has this car and is an audiophile and can give me a nice explanation of what I can do with this feature. Thanks!
DVD-A is a newer format just like SACD. It provides true surround in a digital format that provides more detailed sound. You can buy them at Best Buy or online through Amazon. There is not allot of titles out, it was not a successful format. You can buy software to burn your redbook CD (standard ones) but you will get a surround sound but not the true digital…
I have a 2005 TL with the ELS system.. I have about 5
DVD-A CD’s. They sound great in the car..
