I have a "NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A DVD+/-RW Burner" which is supposed to be able to burn/record on DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW discs as well as on CD-R and CD-RW.

I can burn CD-R discs with no problem!!

The issue is that I am unable to burn video to DVD-R discs. I am trying to use 16x HP DVD-R — 4.7 GB/120 min Video (30 pack).

I bought the DVD-R media at Walmart. The video won’t burn to the DVD-R.

1) Do I need different software? I’ve tried about 3 different freeware softwares. It won’t burn in anything of them.

I’ve also tried Nero 8 software (trial) to burn the video! That dosen’t work either!

2) Do I need a new driver (or firmware)?
3) Would it have anything to do with it being HP DVD-R?
4) Do I need to use different DVD Media (such as DVD+R, DVD-RW or DVD+RW) instead of DVD-R?

If you like I can e-mail you the error log from Nero 8.

I have version 1.06 of the DVD Burner Firmware.

Try a firmware update. Go to the MFG’s website and get the latest firmware.

If you can’t find it here is a link with it……..don’t know about it tho.

The good thing is DVD burner’s are cheap now even with lightscribe.
